In South Philly’s East Passyunk neighborhood sits a non-alcoholic bar named Nutmeg. Their owner is delightful, their selection is great, and their presence in the neighborhood is essential. To challenge myself to explore designing for commercial spaces, I performed a design exercise with Nutmeg as a pretend client, to see what I’d come up with for a refresh of their branding and decor.

I designed new menus and logos, sourced alternative seating options to better utilize their space — trying to source secondhand to minimize cost — and curated a Pinterest board to communicate vibes. I may be biased, but this design takes an already enjoyable bar to the next level.
